About Me & My Blog
Hi! I am Joy
Welcome to my financial learning journey
After losing my mama to endometrial cancer in 2021, I started thinking about how I would like to be remembered by my daughter when it’s my time to go.
As a mother myself, I began to ask: What is my purpose, my mission? What is the greatest lesson I need to teach her so she can live comfortably no matter what happens? Is saving as much as I can be enough to set her up for life? But what is enough?
So many questions — yet I often end up with uncertainty. The truth is, no amount ever really feels enough, especially with the rising costs of hospital care, education, daily necessities, and even basic services.
Realizing this brought a sense of panic. That’s when I made a commitment to chronicle my own financial journey, so my daughter will have something to read when she begins carving her own path toward what many call financial freedom.
Then, my biggest mission must be to raise a financially aware daughter. When she’s able to manage her finances, learn how to make money herself, and start making investments on her own… then I’ll be at peace knowing she’s ready to navigate the real world.
I am not a financial expert, and this blog is proof that I am just beginning my financial education. I’m in my mid-40s, a working mother and a seafarer’s wife — maybe a little late — but I’m not afraid to start this mission, this journey.

So join me as I write about my discoveries, my mistakes, and everything in between. It is my hope that many moms like me will embrace this mission too — to raise money-wise kids!

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How did my money mindful journey begin?
It didn’t start with a big moment—it started with small realizations. I remember questioning where my money was going and why it felt like it was never enough. That’s when I began paying attention.
3. Do I ever feel like I’m missing out by saving more?
Sometimes, yes—and that’s real. But I remind myself that I’m choosing long-term peace over short-term impulse. I still enjoy life, just more intentionally and without the guilt.
2. Did I start this journey with a big income?
Honestly, no. I started with what I had. When I became more intentional, I started tracking my expenses, saving little by little, and learning to say no to things that didn’t align with my goals.
4. Why I teach my daughter about money?
I want her to grow up with something I had to learn the hard way. I’ve seen how a lack of financial awareness can lead to stress, confusion, and missed opportunities—and I don’t want that for her.
